The starting point
PawMetric was conceived as an AI-enabled platform for assessing canine temperament at approximately 7 to 7.5 weeks. The technical premise opened several possible routes: working-dog selection, research and product development, consumer guidance, shelter support, and animal-health applications.
The assignment was not to choose the largest imaginable market. It was to identify where the information could improve a real decision, determine what evidence was missing, and sequence the lowest-regret path to commercialization.

Three hypotheses tested
Directional coded support scores from 20 qualitative interviews, on a 1 to 5 scale. They are decision aids, not population-level estimates.
The strongest signal supported a need for more objective information earlier in a dog’s development.
Stakeholders saw potential in translating temperament insight into more relevant product or care decisions.
The concept was plausible, but the path to a differentiated offer required more evidence and a clearer buyer use case.
What the evidence changed
Stakeholders did not reject the core premise. They defined the conditions under which it could become useful: longitudinal evidence, a shared definition of temperament, outputs that change a decision, and proof of an economic buyer.
Frequencies show coded appearances across the interview set. They indicate direction and salience, not statistical prevalence.

The highest-ranked path was a validation beachhead, not the broadest addressable market. Working-dog settings offered a focused environment with observable outcomes and meaningful decision stakes, making them the most useful place to build proof before pursuing larger product claims.
Recommended commercialization sequence
